What is known about harm?

The studies are too small and short to give a dependable picture of BPC-157 side effects.

Small studies leave safety unanswered

The small human studies reported no serious adverse events, meaning serious unwanted health problems.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the US agency that carries out medicine reviews. FDA said their size, length, and unclear monitoring left safety uncertain. This evidence record is dated September 28, 2026.

FDA is concerned about immune reactions

The immune system is the body’s defence against threats. FDA raised the possibility that injected or nasal BPC-157 could trigger reactions against the substance.

Unwanted substances mixed in with BPC-157, or pieces of the peptide sticking together, may increase that risk of immune reactions. No study had measured immune reactions to BPC-157 products in the September 28, 2026 review.

There is no reviewed label to fill the gaps

BPC-157 has no FDA-reviewed medicine label explaining how it might affect other medicines you take, its use in pregnancy, or who must avoid it.

The human studies in the September 28, 2026 record did not include pregnancy.

A clinician is a health professional who provides care, such as a doctor or nurse. Bring questions about your medicines, health history, pregnancy, or breastfeeding to a clinician. A missing answer is a reason to ask, not a space to fill with a guess.

When urgent help matters

A severe allergic reaction can make breathing difficult or make the tongue or face swell. For severe allergic symptoms, call 911 or head immediately to the closest emergency room.

You can also report a medicine problem through FDA’s MedWatch service. A report by itself cannot prove what caused the problem.
